This
is Crabby Patty. One of our polydactyl
kitties.

You
know why? Where she came, they from
said she was crabby all the time and not very nice and nobody would ever want
her and she should be disposed of. Yep ... disposed...Like trash.
Here
at Rikki's Refuge No-Kill Life-Care Multi-Species Sanctuary we discovered that
she was crabby all the time because her bottom hurt all the time. She has what
is often called Manx Syndrome. It means because the end of her spine isn’t
formed right it affects her, ummmm ... are you sensitive about this stuff?
Let’s just say her bottom isn’t formed quite right and it means without proper
care three times a day, she's got problems and pain... like raw bloody HURT
....
Just
imagine if every time you sat down it hurt .... every time you walked around it
hurt .... and every time you went potty it hurt so awful bad .... you’d be
pretty crabby too I bet.
BUT
when she gets her medicine and her soothing ointment 3 times every day, she
feels good .... and she's HAPPY!!
For
$22 a month, you can support Patty and provide her medication for her. We can't
do this without YOU and we are so grateful for your support!! THANK YOU!! www.RikkisRefuge.org/Donate
Do
you know what polydactyl means? I'm
gonna tell you a funny story about that.
Polydactyl means extra toes, you've seen kitties like that, haven't you?
And do you know what a pterodactyl is? Right, a big flying critter that would a eated me if I lived in dinosaur times.
So one day the phone rings and this man says he needs us to take his pterodactyl. Mom laughed and said, yeah, right !!! What's up? the guy kept insisting he had a pterodactyl he needed to get rid of. Mom finally figured out he wasn't joking, but really had some kind of "pet" he wanted Rikki's to take. So she tells him to start describing it. It's got like really long claws and a lot of 'em. Big fangs and it bites and scratches and that's why he needs to get rid of it. Mom was getting really frustrated cus the guy is like insisting it's a pterodactyl and describing some pretty horrid big creature ..... and finally somehow or other he got around to the too many toes and that was probably why it was crazy.

Ohhhhhh
he had a polydactyl CAT he wanted to get rid of ...... And Joey turned out to be a really nice
cool kitty, he was just young and super active and he did have really really
big feet.
Dinner

Almost
everybody had a wonderful day

and
were so thankful to see the sun and just loved it ....... But there's always a party pooper
.... some of the birds are worried the
puddles might dry up if this keeps up for a few days .....
Love,
Opie
