CHRISTMAS TOUR  at NOON TODAY
As of 9 am we have a light snow falling with expected accumulations of 2 to 7 inches, so the weather person is telling us.

The Tour is on at noon - gates opening at 11:30 am.

Much of the ice has melted though there are still a number of icy patches.  A few in the driveway - IDLE SPEED ONLY - please do not run over our animals - chickens and guineas love to dart in front of vehicles - do not drive faster than you can stop on a seconds warning.  We don’t want you skidding into Chicken City or into the trees.

There are icy patches in the areas you will be walking.  Many at the entrances to animal neighborhoods.  Anywhere that had heavy traffic and packed down the snow is now icy - that’s cuz the snow melts a little during the sunny day and then freezes over at night.

If you have fragile bones, worry about falling or have any condition that a spill on the ice could hurt you, please schedule your visit during warmer weather.

We are not able to offer assisted 4 wheel drive to those with difficulties walking long distances today.  The conditions are just to icy to make it safe for us to be driving near the animal neighborhoods.  We don’t want to slid into somebody’s house!

Admission is one case of cat food per person today for this special Christmas Day Tour!!!

Check back for any further updates or call 540-854-0870 x3.  At this time there are no plans to cancel the tour.

Rescue dogs help the humans who adopt them
Many people do their best to help animals in need, but sometimes it's those same furry creatures who rescue their two-legged counterparts. USA Today recently chronicled the stories of three separate adopted animals who later saved some very lucky people.

One such case involved a hound-mix from Kentucky named Digger. It was a frigid night when the 10-month-old pup began whining and begging to go outside. Once there, he quickly alerted his owner, Teresa Oney, to a woman crying for help on the other side of her fence.

"Ordinarily he'd bark and bark if something grabs his attention," Oney told the news outlet. "It was because he was so still and made no noise [once outside] that I was able to hear her. He seemed to understand he needed to be quiet."

According to the news provider, it turns out Oney's neighbor became disoriented and slipped and fell in the middle of the night. Thankfully, an ambulance was quickly dispatched to the area.

Those contemplating adding a furry friend to their family may want to head to their local rescue shelter and adopted a special, loving animal. Pets have been known to lift spirits and create happiness in home. The choice may also save their lives - and yours.  (The Animal Rescue Site)
