at Rikki's Refuge
What
load of clean laundry ?
By
the time you could see a glimmer of sun in the sky .... Papa Doug had found some clean clothes for
the day, checked up on every one, cleaned and fed the critters at the Life
Center ..... driven several town over
.... borrowed a box truck from a landscaper .... and was headed across the
mountains and thru the woods .... and maybe even over a river .... to pick up
some donated dog food.
You have no idea the lengths my hoomans go to stretch our dollars really thin to be able to have nums for everyone. Yeah, it'd be a lot quicker and easier to just go to the store to buy it ..... but you gotta have the dollars .... so we go just about anywhere to pick up donations of nums !!!!!
Meanwhile .... back at the farm ....

dawned another cold 29 degree morning

chickens and geese help Clarence get the ice out and the fresh water in !
Obie
keeping an eye on things and making sure the hoomans do all their work !!!
Enjoying

HELP
US PAINT THE FENCE
This
is the board fence that runs along Route 20 and up the Life Center Drive. We will be painting bright bold colors of
the rainbow. Come and join us any or
all SATURDAYS from 9 am until 4 pm at the Life Center - 21410 Constitution Hwy
at the corner of Rt 20 and Quarterhorse.
Just
bring yourself in clothes you don't mind spilling paint on!
STARTING
MARCH 17 and every Saturday thereafter until the fence is finished! Spend the day or help out for an hour. Work
one Saturday or all of them.
Weather
permitting, we will be out there every Saturday starting at 9 am!!
No
need to RSVP - just show up ready to get to work! Nora and Paul will be running the work parties and if you have
any questions prior to coming or are curious about the weather that day in our
neck of the woods, feel free to call or text them at: (NORA) 540-729-2797 or

(*NOTE:
anyone under 18 coming WITH their parent or guardian must be old enough and
well enough behaved to join the work party and actively participate - no
childcare available).
I'm
sorry, but your can't bring your dogs with you, or any other animals - it's not
a safe environment for them. This will be a work party and there won't be any
tours of the animals available on these days. However, you will be working near
Ramsey Residence so feel free to bring some fruits or veggies to feed the
sheep. No bread or crackers or anything they're not used to eating here, so if
you've got something special in mind .... ask first !!!
If
you bring your lunch with you, please remember that we are an animal-friendly
sanctuary, and we ask that your lunch be vegetarian please.
I

Everybody
is enjoying the sun today !!

is already shedding out ..... Spring
has got to be almost here !!!
See
how uneven his coat is? The winter
fluff has fallen out on his hind quarters.
And the undercoat everywhere is getting shaggy and loose.
Obie
wonders when Papa Doug will get home .....
he's
been gone all day .... since before the sun came up .... and he promised to
bring a whole truck full of nums home !!!!
Meanwhile
..... Papa Doug sends a photo of the
nums he's picked up for the dawgs !!!!
and
it looks good .... !!!! Yahooo we'll
be feeding the dogs for a while !!!!!
But
still .... Papa Doug isn't done
..... he's gotten ANOTHER call for help
!!!

that's it ..... I can't stay up to wait
for Papa Doug .... I gotted my dinner already .... I'll go open the gate for him when I get up for my midnight
snack.
