It only costs $1 per day per animal to run Rikki's Refuge. Pretty amazing huh??? I think we do the most on the least budget of any animal place ever. With 1259 animals, this will feed and care for everybody for most of a day!!!!

Please keep voting http://bit.ly/VoteVincent Rikkis Refuge in VA and keep helping us win $s to feed animals. We are a no-kill, multi species, sanctuary housing 1259 critters each and every day and we feed & love every one every day. The shelter with most votes by March 20, that’s Sunday night at midnight, wins the most $s, please vote daily thru 3/20, only 5 days left, please "share" this with all your friends.  We so much need $s to care for our animals, you know how tough the economy is, donations are down, we need to make it up in prize winnings

Please please help us, and all animals, in these contests where companies are giving away the money - it’s easier to click and vote than to click a pen and write a check !!!  Your votes DO COUNT.  They COUNT BIG TIME.

Round the Refuge
False alarm on the Purina delivery for this afternoon.  You all should have - I hope I hope I hope - gotten my email last night about that.  The trailer Mike was going to rent to do the hauling can’t be loaded with a fork lift and the factory requires that.  So he’s got to rent a different truck.  So it’s probably gonna happen next Wednesday.  Let me know if you can come then, in the afternoon, to help unload.

It’s like getting Christmas presents.  We don’t know what it is till it’s here.  10 pallets of something for the kitties and the dawggies.  Could be dry food, moist food, pouches, and or treats.  Sometimes it’s just what we need.  One time it was thousands of pounds of treats!!!  We didn’t mind!!!  What ever it is, we’ll use it!!!  Num num num.  And it’s just for us kitties and dawggies.  We don’t have to share one little bite with them herbivores!!!

Rabbit Rotunda II Roof Raising Schedule.  David was the only hooman working on it last Sunday and he gots lots done for a one hooman show.  KiKi helped, and when she finished helping David eat his lunch (did you get any David?) she napped with an eye half open watching him work.  Jessie and Joey BadGoat tried to help by trying to eat tools.  And Betty climbed the ladder and supervised with a purr.

This Sunday March 20th David needs 8 good, hard working, strong hoomans to help him out.  Tember, special request for YOU!!!!  Starting about 8 am and working during daylight hours.  Please come and help.

Then the following Saturday March 26th, he’ll need 6-8 of you again.  Please sign up!!

There are pigeons and rabbits and guinea pigs that have been on the waiting list since fall, all hoping we’ll have room for them to live happily ever after at Rikki’s Refuge.  Please help their new home get ready!!!

We’ve got a special Girl Scout trip coming out today!!!  Yeahhh  I love Girl Scouts.  And Boy Scouts too!!!  If you have a group or club, Rikki’s is a great place to spend the day, do some work for the animals, have some fun, get tail wags and purrs.

On April 16, Saturday, it’ll be BUNNY BONANZA at Rikki’s Refuge.  Our first big event of 2011 !!!

AND I NEED YOUR HELP
Would you be willing to volunteer for the day??  For part of the day?? Help with baked goods for the sale??  Any other way you’d like to help.  Please contact Katarina katarinagalvin@yahoo.com

Pokey needs a home
Pokey is a very senior cat.  He has been in Orange County Animal Shelter since November 23rd.  Consistently underweight, has had to be shaved down several times, does not use his litter box, hates wearing his sweater, very friendly, very laid-back, not getting any adoption interest whatsoever.  Lately seems a little disoriented and will just stand there, staring at something the rest of us can’t see.  I don’t want him to spend the rest of his life in a cage here, he deserves better than that.  If you can foster or adopt Pokey please call Beth 540-672-1124

Or if you’d like to add on some rooms at the 9th Life Center we’d love to have this guy live at Rikki’s.  This is the kind of guy we love to take care.  The 9th Life Center is at max capacity we simply cannot add more residents to the current space with out jeopardizing everybody’s health and sanity.  Please help Pokey.

Waugh Harley Dealer Pet Days, April 16th
We’ve been invited to attend again his year.  It’s right down the street from Rikki’s, in Orange.  The date conflicts with Bunny Bonanza so we’re limited on sending the folks who usually do our events.

I won’t be able to go cuz I already promised I’d be at Bunny Bonanza.  I’m trying to convince mom to let me “work” in the bunny pen.  Heee hee hee.  Lady Godiva has volunteered to be our spokes animal of the day.
Would you volunteer to come and help her?  Just let me know Vincent@RikkisRefuge.org
