A very very very Merry Christmas Eve to you and yours !!!!!

Throws arms around Katie’s and Grant’s necks!!
THANK YOU.  A bigger greater bigger thank you than I can fit on this little computer screen!!!  You’re the best!!!

They’re super busy at their auto restoration shop http://www.northsiderestorations.com/

They’re always streaking by so fast I can’t catch them still !!!!
Well they knew the ice and the snow was coming and me and mom might be stuck at the refuge for weeks - oh no - and what if I ran out of Fancy Feast and mom couldn’t get out to the store??  So they towed off the trooper and they fixed it all up just so we’d be safe and sound!!

Now is that a fabulous Christmas present for me and mom or what????

They worked really hard to get it ready so we could pick it up yesterday.  It almost passed inspection but the tailpipe was leaking.  Grant called for the part and OH NO the wrong one came in.  What to do?  They’d replace it - but it was too late to get it in before Christmas and what if it snowed !!!!   So he bent and shaped and got it to fit !!!!

And by the time he was done it was dark.  Mr. Joe gave me and mom a ride over to pick it up.  Me kept looking at me like, “you cat you, you better not poo in MY truck!”  And I think he was mad that Boogz had to stay home so I could go along.  But I think Boogz was happy to sleep inside where it was warm instead of coming along!!
WOW WEEEE The trooper started right up and it’s running really nice!!  I let mom drive cuz it’s a stick and that’s really hard with only one leg.  We had to do some stops for supplies on the way home so it was pretty late and all was quiet at the farm when we got home.

Usually the dogs run out to greet us barking.  Only Tippy was barking.  Shhhh all was quiet.

And I was worried about Grandma getting run over by the reindeer but Mama and ME almost got eated by the security dogs!!
After running errands late and picking up the 4 wd trooper, we came home in a vehicle that didn’t should familiar to Beauty and Kiki.

Mom was surprised nobody came to greet us.  She opened her door not knowing anybody was even there and Beauty took her arm and growling and started pulling her out.  Mom was so startled that she screamed and KiKi jumped up in her face really snarling.  As soon as mom could talk calm and say, “it’s ok girls, it’s me girls, it’s ok” they got all friendly and tail waggy.

Well that sure answers mom’s question - what would they really do if they didn’t know who showed up at night.  When we’re home and mom goes out to see somebody who drove up after dark, Beauty is on her left and KiKi on her right and they are snarling like they mean bad business.  They make mom feel very safe at night.

They know the sound of mom’s truck, but hearing the trooper was different, so they slunk up from behind just waiting to capture who ever got out first.  I’m sure glad it was mom, they might of swallowed me whole !!!!

Happy Dance Happy Dance Tomorrow is Christmas Tour

Update on the ice and the tour

Lots of the ice melted away yesterday and today.  The driveway by the gate is now safe.  There are long slick areas of ice in the driveway and in the small parking lot by the 9th Life Center.  The regular lot is pretty snow and ice free but it is kind of mushy.  Not too bad I don’t think.  If you have the option and are coming for the tour bring your 4 wheel drive.   You’re certainly welcome to camp in till spring if you get stuck !!!

The tour will start at NOON and there only one tour on Christmas.  So please be prompt.  Gates will be unlocked at 11:30 !!!!  Tour runs about two hours and it’s all outdoors so dress warm and be prepared.  Good water proof boots with good traction.

Admission a full case of cat food per person - it’s Christmas, be generous to the animals !!!!

Lots of the areas you’ll be touring have a slick coat of ice where things have melted and frozen back.  So CAUTION if you have fragile bones or are worried about falling you might want to visit when there’s been no snow or ice.  We don’t want you to get hurt.  So Enter at your own risk!!!

DRIVE SLOW

What you think of as the driveway is our playground.  Rikki’s is for the animals!  Please SLOW - idle speed down our driveway.  5 MPH and we’re not kidding!!

WHY did the chickens cross the road?  Cus they saw a car coming.  They love to leap out in front of vehicles.  The chickens and the guinea fowl.

There’s a big long patch of ice in the driveway right at Chicken City - so you be going real slow now so when you slam on those brakes when the chickens jump at your car - you don’t go crashing into the chicken house or the trees, OK?

On the Twenty-fourth Day of Christmas,
 look what came to Rikki’s,

twenty four plump pigs a plundering,

World's ugliest dog finds a loving home
It looks as though a pretty unattractive pooch has finally found a loving home. According to the Daily Mail, Ug, a pup with two different colored eyes, crooked teeth and an off-center jaw, has been adopted by a loving family.

The Pointer Cross, who has been renamed Doug, has been welcomed into the home of April Parker and her two teenage daughters.

"When people see him they do a double take," Parker told the news outlet. "He looks comical with his bug eyes and cross teeth and he's always bumping into things. But he has a fantastic temperament and is really loving."

Doug may be able to soon fill the shoes of Miss Ellie, a Chinese Crested hairless pooch who took home the title of the World's Ugliest Pedigree Dog in 2009. Sadly, she died this past June.

The World's Ugliest Dog contest is held every year in Petaluma, California. The competition began 10 years ago and sees scores of entrants every year vying for the strangely coveted title.  --- from The Animal Rescue Site

Oh my gosh - can you imagine the emergencies this guy would wake us up with in the middle of the night???

In memory and honor of a great animal lover.  Many friends met you at the bridge.

Today we will study the Oropendula Bird
They are a fascinating Central American.  They build long pendulous nests clustered in trees

Their call is accompanied with acrobatics.  As they call they drop forward and bob down and then right themselves.

Seeing a whole tree full of these adorable guys is the most spectacular sight.
