Good Morning Good News !!!!   December 6, 2010

The GOOD NEWS is it’s gonna be a few degrees warmer every day till it’s 50 on Saturday !!!!  YIPPEE !!!!!

We’re barely behind the shelter in 6th place and barely ahead of the shelter in 8th place.  With only two weeks left to vote !!!  We can slid it up a notch if we all work at it.  We handed out bookmarks asking folks to vote at the parade last night.  How can you think of increasing the voter base?

Deerfield Township nurse saved Fuzzy, who became friend to elderly

Nurse, Carole McManus, saved the life of a newborn bulldog with a cleft palette — an opening in the top of his mouth that threatened to drown him if he tried to nurse from his mother or a bottle.

She tube fed him every two hours until he was a month old, getting help in caring for him from some of the 196 elderly patients at Cumberland Manor Nursing Home in Bridgeton, where she has worked for 10 years.

“They’d line up to burp him. Even the patients who self-isolate would come out to hold him,” she said of the puppy named Fuzzy, who went with her to work from his first day of life, with permission from McManus’ boss.

Three years later, he's practically a staff member in the activities department there, playing fetch and tug-of-war with patients, and generally making their lives more fun. He has free range of the three-story facility and even takes the elevator by himself.

McManus also has two Clydesdale horses, which she brings to visit the nursing home residents during the holidays, pulling a sled.

The End !

Vincent’s Very own 25 Days of Christmas
On the sixth day of Christmas,
Rikki’s received warm and wonderful heat,
gentle, soothing, healing music complete with a player for CDs,
some light to help us see all the creatures at night,
nummy canned food for all the doggies,
snuggy pads to keep us comfee,
and me eating FANCY FEAST ....

Winter is here - boy is it ever - and we never seem to have enough heat!  A few of these ceramic tower heaters would certainly keep the senior center, hospital and office nice and toasty!  And they are economical too.  There’s always cooler areas of the building that can use a boost!  This is a great price too!
