Hey Louisa, have you heard about this new campaign? What do you mean Thelma, the Honey Bunny program? That's right, Louisa, the Valentines Day Neuter and Spay Program. Don't they have some real cute name for it, Thelma? That's right Louisa, Neuter Your Old Goat and Spay Your Honey Bunny Program! And you know what, Thelma? We’re the stars of the show! Traditionally, humans have made fun of our reproductive activities with phrases such as “breeding like rabbits”. Well I think we need to change some things around here, Louisa. Why, just take a look at all those humans out there. Maybe we better start telling our kids to quit breeding like humans! At least we know the one thing you humans can get right, is to spay and neuter everything in sight! So start today, Valentines Day, and donate a spay or neuter in honor of your Old Goat or your Honey Bunny. You can spay one of us for $139 or neuter one of our kind for only $99. Pick any species you want, just neuter and spay. Rikki's Refuge No Kill Animal Sanctuary, RikkisRefuge.org

I sure wish somebody had picked me as a Valentines Spay years and years ago. I spent most of my life living in a small pen, having one litter of puppies after another. People would come and say, “Oh cute little puppies, they'll make great hunting dogs”, and off my kids would go, never to be seen again. Occasionally I’d hear a horror story from one of the hounds who’d go out hunting. Stories of our friends being shot when they got scared, dumped along the side of the road, or just starve to death. And there was nothing I could do to help. I just kept having to be pregnant again and again and again. One day they said I was too old, and took me to a scary place called “The Pound”. At “The Pound” they said nobody would want me because I was old, not housebroken, and had heartworms. But Rikki's Refuge said they'd love me no matter what, and they took me home. And I'm very very happy here playing with Kola and my other friends. I just can't wait to get spayed, so please me as your Valentines Spay, $139. Greetings folks, I'm one of the newest residents at Rikki's Refuge. Can't say I'm quite as annoyed as Pumba, but I sure am looking forward to getting out there in one of those cat runs. Can't say I think too much of these quarantined cages. But I do understand the necessity. So if you wouldn't mind, folks, I’d like to ask you to cast your vote in my direction. For only $59 I can be your Valentines Neuter. Muchly appreciated, Larry (PS they made me promise not to tell who I was named after) Rikki's Refuge No Kill Animal Sanctuary, RikkisRefuge.org

Greetings, I've only been at Rikki's Refuge a few days. I sure hope it continues to be so much fun. And the food! It's delicious, and there is so much of it. They tell me in a few more weeks you won't even be able to see my ribs. Ol’ Geezer and I have been together since we were pups. My name is Lindsay, by the way. And we've had many a pups together. Our job was to hunt and make more hunting dogs. I never could understand why they needed more when so many of them just disappeared at the end of hunting season every year. Every time somebody didn't come back from a hunt, I would cringe in horror wondering what happened. After hunting season this year me and Ol Geezer and Mark and Betsy Sue loaded up in the truck with our human and went for a very long ride. I'd never ridden that long in my life. We stopped and all got out of the truck. Our human looked at us kind of sad, and said, “well so long ol’ dogs.” And then he got in the truck and drove away. We were dumbfounded. We chased, and chased, and chased, we ran until our feet hurt. After wandering about lost for several days we came to a farmhouse. We were so happy. A human came out of the house, and began to yell at us like he didn't like us, and then we saw he had a shotgun. We turned to run, but we weren't in time, he shot Mark. Betsy Sue stopped to nudge Mark in the hopes that he would get up. We had to bark and bark at her to make her come with us, we knew Mark was gone. We were all so sad and so hungry that night as we huddled together in the woods hoping to find a home. The next day we found one of those big roads. Maybe we could find their way home. We saw a human that looked sort of like ours on the other side of the road and Betsy Sue ran to him without looking. A big truck was coming, Ol’ Geezer and I barked and howled hoping she would stop. She was so happy to think of being reunited with her human, that she didn't listen to us, and the truck hit her. Ol’ Geezer and I wondered how long it would be before our turn came. A couple of days later somebody picked us up, and now are living happily ever after at Rikki's Refuge. I agree with London, the happiest day of my life will be if you picked me as your Valentines Spay, $139. Rikki's Refuge No Kill Animal Sanctuary, RikkisRefuge.org

Well I guess my beloved Lindsay told you our story. For a while there I thought it wasn't going to be happy ever after. But now that we're here at Rikki's I know our retirement years are going to be wonderful. Never again will we be left alone, have to go hungry, or be hit and kicked. They don't even make us work for our food here! You all have given me and my girl Lindsay so much, I hate to ask for more, but just one little thing, can I be your Valentines Neuter? It's only $99, thank you, Ol’ Geezer. Rikki's Refuge No Kill Animal Sanctuary, RikkisRefuge.org

Hello there. I'm Tom Grey, and in a moment you'll meet my wife Hazel. We were very happy and dignified Senior Citizens who've suddenly found ourselves in rather a bind. What we thought was a warm and loving and secure home for our retirement. We've lived in our home for a coon’s age, when suddenly are humans, decided to retire too. Now there's nothing wrong with that, why we all thought we’d be spending a lot more time together. But in no time flat our humans had a sign up in front of the house saying “For Sale”, moved out, bought a new RV, and were ready to head across the country. Hazel I talked about it, and though we don't like traveling much, we were resolved to a two-year trip cross country. What a shock it was when we reach the first stop, and it was a place called “The Pound”, where we were plopped down in a cage. I understand that we will be welcome for the remainder of our lives here at Rikki's Refuge. We've been having to catch up on some neglected medical work, and I understand there's yet another procedure to follow that they call “neuter”, if you wouldn’t mind lending me the $59 ....... Hi, I'm Hazel. I guess Tom told you our story. No need dwelling on a bad past, we did have lots of happy memories too. And I think we'll be making many more happy ones here at Rikki's Refuge. Tom's having a little more trouble adjusting, he's such an old dog set in his ways. I didn't mean that in any derogatory sort of way, you know it's just sort of a saying. Like Tom, I too needed some catch-up medical work, and to tell you the truth I'm looking forward to my spay (I haven't yet explained to Tom what “neuter” means). But I think it will do him some good! I'd be most happy if you be kind enough to select me for your Valentines Spay, for only $79.

I'm having a blast here at Rikki's Refuge running around and playing with all my friends. We live in really fun family groups. I still miss my people, who didn't want to let me grow old with them. I'll never understand that. I would have stayed with them forever, no matter what they needed, I would've done everything I could to be there for them. They promised me that when I was a puppy. I don't know why things changed when I got old and a little bit slow. I just hope karma works exactly the way they say it does. Pick me for your Valentines Spay, it's a real bargain for $139. I was out prowling one night, oh say six months ago or so, you know, doing that Tomcat sort of thing, the traveling salesman routine. Anyway, the last thing I remember was this gorgeous Puss on the other side of the road. When she flicked her tail out, I didn't even think to look, and headed right across the pavement towards her. I didn’t even here it coming, but wham. When I woke up, all I knew was pain. Things kind of came and went out of focus for a while. And then I was at Rikki's Refuge. Somehow I knew they were trying to help me, even though it would hurt so bad when they would have to help me empty my bladder. While that was months ago, and I've now learned how to walk on my front feet, and lay in the sun, and steel Scooter the Dog’s food. I don't have any feeling in my back legs or tail. I do miss running and jumping a bit, but I sure glad it doesn't hurt me more. Soon I will be well enough to get neutered, though I know there have been some debates as to whether this is necessary or not, given my current paralysis. I'll be needing $59 for my surgery. WALKER

Hi there, my name is Walker, it's surprising they didn't name me Runner, since that's what I used to do, try to run away from people. I sure understand Lindsay's and Ol’ Geezer’s story. The loud noise of guns always scared me, even when I was a little puppy. They would tie me up and hit me and kicked me and try to drag me into woods where they were making those loud noises. I cringe just thinking about those days. Sometimes we dogs have a rough life. I never could get used to that gunshot sound, and the last time I tried to run away from a gun, my human shot me. You can still see the huge scar on my back. I tried to make it on my own, too scared to go back home, but too weak and too sick to be able to find food. Finally I crawled home, still bleeding, maggots, and a horrible infection. I was hoping maybe, just maybe my human would be glad to see me. But he kicked me, tied a rope around my neck, tossed me in the truck, and took me to “The Pound”, and said to them, “maybe you can finish the job I started”. It was so scary there, all these dogs were barking and crying. I heard about some of the things that happen in places like this. Every time a human would come to look at me, I would hide in the back. They kept saying to me, “Walker, if you act like that, you'll never get a home.” And one day they put me in a truck again, I shook in terror. That's when I ended up at Rikki's Refuge. Nobody here tries to hit me or scare me in any way. They feed me every day. They let me play happily with other dogs. And slowly but surely, I'm starting to make friends with them. I think I may have met people I can trust! I'm almost too shy to ask, but wouldn't you like to make me your Valentines Neuter? For only $99, you can make me a very happy pup. Pumba, dumba, let me out of here and back on the streets. I don't think I like it here very much. I’ve been sitting here in a cage for over two weeks now, while these disgusting humans do things to me called “processing”. This “processing” crap, consists of having needles stuck in me, sticks shoved in my ears, goop crammed in my ears, and being forced to swallow some of the vilest tasting substances you've ever met. And these idiotic humans keep telling saying, “I'm sorry Pumba, it's for your own good.” Yeah, right, what's for my own good is to let me out of here, or get me fresh mouse for dinner. They tell me as soon as I have no more mites in my ears, or worms in my gut, and I’ve been neutered, whatever the heck that is, I can go live in a cat run, whatever the heck that is. All I can tell you is it's got to be better than living in this cage. So please pick me as your Valentines Neuter for 59 bucks. And if you wouldn't mind, could you toss a little extra in for a mouse? My brothers and sisters and me are here at Rikki's Refuge because our mama has fiv. People tell me and other parts of the world they execute you for this. I'm really glad Rikki's Refuge will take care of us. Many kittens born to mama's with fiv will test positive for fiv for a few months. But we don't really have it, we just have a little immunity left over from our mamas. When were a couple months older, we’ll test negative. But a lot of adoption agencies have a policy that they will kill us if we are positive. Rikki's Refuge is letting us stay here until we are old enough to have a negative test, and then we can get forever homes of our own. Would you like to adopt some of us? I'd really appreciate it, if you would pick me as your Valentines Spay, it's only $79. Rikki's Refuge No Kill Animal Sanctuary, RikkisRefuge.org
