As
long as the weather permits, as in not too close to freezing and no
precipitation, you'll find Nora there scraping and painting !!! Paul, Cindy and others are working too
!!!!
When
the pretty new fence is finished ......
we'll need some lovely landscaping out front.

our new friends who arrived last night from Egypt.
Scarface
needs a good long stretch after the long flight.
Bea
net in need of recharging
She's
still a bit scared too. It's been a
long flight and a long car ride and a total change in environment.
ps:
these kitties got a room in an office trailer for their quarantine. Bea had just climbed up to a shelf and
knocked the cord down from something stored up there. Right after the picture it was secured better for everyone's
safety.
Seth
is feeling a little insecure in his new surroundings.
He'll
need some extra loving and attention to begin to feel welcome.
Cangaroo
is at home looking out the window and enjoying seeing creatures of so many
species walking around.
I
wonder what kind of critters she watched back home.
Camelot
is amazingly friendly and well adjusted and already feeling totally at home.
He
may need orthopedic surgery on his hips and legs. He's getting around just fine and sure doesn't seem to be in any
pain. That's wonderful. He'll be able to do his quarantine time
before going out to the doc for an evaluation of the orthopedic problem. Keep your paws crossed for him.
Did
you ever wonder how Doug got his job as Manager of Rikki's Refuge?
Well it didn't happen just one day.
But one day he did come to Rikki's Refuge and he said .... I think I'd like to work here .... can I give it a try ... I'll do my best and work my hardest ... let's see if we like each other.
And we said ok ... here's a scooper ... you know what to do !!!!
And he did .... and he did more ... and he always did more ..... when something unexpected came up and we needed help .... he was there to fix it .... day time ... night time ... Saturday too !!!!
Doug always did more, was there more, ran faster, lifted more, worked faster .... and figured out all the hard things .... The more Doug did .... the more Doug got promoted .... and that's why he's the Manager of Rikki's Refuge !!!
Just watch this ......

can YOU pick up 8 cases of cat food at one time ... EIGHT CASES ??? Can you move this fast ? Can you load up a truck and get it back to
the hungry cats THIS fast ?

long do you think this much canned cat food lasts?

often do YOU buy a case, of two, or three?
How many cats do YOU have?
Divide it up and multiply it by five hundred and somethin and ..... DANG !!!!! This only about a week this time of year !!!!!
And
after the eat ..... you know what they
do .....
and
we gotta have BIG boxes to hold all that poo !!!!! With almost 80 litter boxes in use every day, we need to keep
160 on hand .... half for using and
half for washin .... cus you getz a
really bad mess to clean up if you say ....
oh, excuse me cats, it's time to wash your boxes (like everyday too),
will you please just hold it for an hour or so till I get these clean and dry
and bring them back and refill them !!!!
So ALL the litter boxes get dumped out and fresh ones put down, and then all the litter boxes get washed. Don't you want to volunteer and come on out and wash boxes !!!!
Just like everything ... litter boxes were out .... they get old and crack .... and a litter box with a crack or hole in it isn't very good ..... When we need new ones it's special order at Lowe's. Doug picked up an order of 50 today !!!

is why we need a constant supply of floor cleaners and bleach and mops and
squeegees .... all the little paw prints !!! This is a normal rainy day floor
before it's cleaned.
After
dropping off a truck full of donations, Lynn stayed to help out with some of
the work that needs to be done here at Rikki's Refuge EVERYDAY ... volunteering YOUR time today for a few
hours is a BIG BIG help !!!!!! Thank you so much Lynn for the much needed
assistance and hard work !!!!!!! YOU
