This is the most awesome dog, I’m in love …. Spayed, vaccinated, tested, wormed, all fixed up and ready to go. You even get all the extras, she comes housebroken, crate trained, LOVES car rides, knows sit and stay etc, plays ball all day long if you let her. Good with other dogs but absolutely NO children. 6 years old, very active and super playful. Please give Misty a home.
Please call Beth and save Misty. Orange County Animal Shelter 540-672-1124

The Cats Have Made Another Demand
They no longer feel water bowls are adequate for them. They realize that in the early days they were lucky just to have their lives saved. But now they've grown spoiled. And they are demanding more and more luxurious environments. Ron, Director of Serving Cats, works his fingers to the bone (well, what's left of them after Angel chews on them) trying to improve and expand their accommodations. Now those horrible beasts are demanding waterfalls instead of water bowls. They are threatening to go on strike and use anything but litterbox if we don't accommodate them. Please, we need your help. Those who have, what we call “accidents”, are bad enough. But if they all start deliberately doing this, we might be up to our eyes in you know what ….. I guess taking Vincent with me to Lowe’s was a big mistake. He is demanding a waterfall in every cathouse. Lowe’s Home Improvement only $199
The Sheep Can't Keep Up with All of It
The weather has warmed up and the grass is growing. Everybody but the cats and dogs (those lazy good for nothings) are helping to chomp little down. But it grows faster than they can eat it. I considered begging for a donation of 1000 more sheep. But then I remembered how much it cost to buy hay and grain for them in the winter months. So I think in the long run it would be cheaper if you donated a riding lawn mower. Or two. All of ours were old, and are now broken down. If you know how to do repair work on them, please volunteer your time. Lowe’s Home Improvement has great deals on mowers this spring. Remember! It's all tax deductible!
A Great Yard Cart to Haul Everything Around
Sometimes the ground is too muddy or snowy for even our four-wheel-drive vehicles to make it around. And it's a long haul from the Red Barn to Feline Fields with 1800 pounds of cat litter every week. It's a long haul from the Purple Barn to Bovine Boulevard with bales of hay. It's a long haul from all the Animal Stations to the Trash Truck with 400 pounds of poop. When you have to lug it all by hand ….. Think about buying a cart, painting your name on it and donating it to Rikki's Refuge! That every time the weather's been, will be thinking about you! Lowe’s Home Improvement only $67.98
Brochure Box for Animal Information Pamphlets
Wouldn't it be cool to have one of these brochure boxes at each animal station? They could be filled with pamphlets full of information about the different animals. Individual pictures of the dogs with their names and a little bit about their story. I guess the cat pamphlets will have to be awfully big to fit in information about 600 cats! Available at Staples for only $16.67
Rocky a Rikki's Refuge Alumni
Rico adopted Rocky from Rikki's Refuge in 2002. He also adopted oldster Moshke, Rocky's best friend. For five years they’ve lived happily together. Five long years considering Moshke and Rocky were already very senior citizens when Rico adopt them. Rocky crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 7, he would have been 16 in September.
Moshke a Rikki's Refuge Alumni
Moshke is still hanging in there, Rico's companion. He'll be 18 this year and aside from a stiff hind leg he still get's around pretty good. Moshke and Rocky were in constant competition with each other but I'm sure he's going to miss Rocky as well.
Samson was a Good Dog
Marty & Michelle Kaufman made a very generous donation to Rikki's Refuge in memory of their beloved dog Samson. They made their donation to Rikki's Intake Fund, so that another dog who needed a place like Rikki's could spend the rest of their natural lives.
